Volunteers sought to guide young drivers

ASSISTING THE FUTURE GENERATION: Youth on Wheels helps disadvantaged teens achieve on-road hours essential for their provisional licence.

VOLUNTEER mentors are being sought for Grant District Council’s Youth on Wheels initiative.

Operating since 2013, Youth on Wheels helps disadvantaged learner drivers achieve the 75 hours of on-road driving essential to receive their provisional licence.

Current volunteers have achieved almost 1000 hours of on-road driver supervision over the past two years, mentoring 27 participants and attaining 10 provisional licences.

The minimum commitment is two hours per week and volunteers must be over 25, have held a full South Australian drivers licence for a minimum of two years and able to meet other requirements of
