MOUNT Gambier Police are advising local car owners to lock unattended vehicles following a series of thefts in the city.
Since the beginning of September there have been 18 offences reported to police of interference with motor vehicles in the Mount Gambier area.
Of those reported incidents, 14 have resulted in the theft of property from vehicles.
On 12 occasions, thieves gained entry to the vehicle through an unlocked entry point.
On three other occasions items were stolen from the outside of the vehicle.
The offending is widespread across Mount Gambier and usually occurring in the afternoon or overnight.
