Hello, and welcome to the 2024 Limestone Coast Football Netball League (LCFNL) grand final.

Congratulations to the Casterton Sandford Football Club for hosting the grand final and I hope that the day is a huge success, for both football and netball.

All the best to Millicent and West Gambier playing off in the football grand final and for North Gambier and West Gambier in the netball.

Further, all the best to all other teams representing their clubs in their respective grand finals.

As we are all aware the introduction of the LCFNL came about because of a review between the old Western Border League executive and the South Australian National Football League.

The new name and brand change has been well accepted by all involved.

The exciting news is that Penola Football Netball Club will be joining our league in 2025, making our competition a seven-team competition.

The league executive and the clubs are excited about Penola coming into the league next year and we look forward to the 2025 season.

A big thanks to the board of management of the Bendigo Bank – our naming rights sponsor – for being part of this exciting change and for their continued support of the new league.

To all the other sponsors who committed to supporting our league, thank you and we hope to have you on board for many years going forward.

It is also important to thank and introduce the new board members of the LCFNL, who have worked hard in this inaugural year to continue and maintain the governance of the league.

David Shipway, David Chant, Nick Zema, Tanya Coxon, Adam Salmon, Michael Summers, Di Gould, Adrian Flowers and Hayley Dunn.

We thank and acknowledge these individuals, for the work so far and their commitment to the league going forward – I am sure we are in good hands.

One of the most important decisions was to make sure the transition from the WBFL to the new LCFNL, was seamless.

One decision the board adopted was to continue and acknowledge the history of the WBFL into the LCFNL.

We will continue to honour and acknowledge the names of Brian Hennessy and Mike Ryan when presenting their awards.

Life members will continue to be acknowledged as an important part of the league going forward.

Congratulations to joint Brian Hennessy Medallists Harry Tunkin and Emerson Marks.

Congratulations to Sarah Ritter on winning the A Grade netball best and fairest.

Finally, I hope you all have a great day at the Casterton Sandford Football Netball Club.

All the best to you all.

See you next year along with everyone from Penola and have a great day supporting your team.

Regards

Kurt Slaven
