PORT MACDONNELL v GLENCOE

PORT MacDonnell is still technically a chance to sneak into second place on the ladder, but it will rely on two wins for the Demons and a loss for Robe against Hatherleigh this weekend.

The Demons have a relatively easy run home, but will not want to take any chances against Glencoe this Saturday before a final round clash with bottom-placed Kongorong.

It has been a fruitful few weeks for Port MacDonnell, accounting for both top-placed Hatherleigh and the second-placed Roosters.

Following those triumphs, last round had the Demons defeat Tantanoola by 23 points after an inaccurate first half from the victors kept the margin modest.

Tall man Will Macdonald comes off a best-on-ground performance for the “Bay” and will be one to watch again this week, while Tim Sullivan has also been consistent form.

Christian Howlett has also been a highlight in recent rounds and enters off a four-goal effort against the Tigers.

Last time the sides met it was a high-scoring affair and Port MacDonnell won 126-88.

Ned Wilke was the best of the Demons that day and he has remained reliable since.

The captain is well suited to any area of the ground and put his defensive skills to the test on the weekend.

He is also capable in front of goal, while the likes of Alex Ridding and Howlett have also been making waves in front of the big sticks.

Glencoe has its own sharpshooters with Alex Hentschke and Tory Weaver both showing off impressive firepower.

Hentschke currently leads the league goal kicking with 50 goals for the season.

He kicked a bag of eight majors despite the loss to the Demons in Round 8.

Matt Cordy was the best of the bunch last round, while Dylan Childs, Patrick Mitchell and Zacc Cocks – to name a few – have been players to watch of late.

The Murphies will put up a fight but it is unlikely they will be able to match the pace of the Demons for four quarters.
