ROBE 55 d MOUNT BURR 38

ROBE delivered another impressive team performance in Round 15 of Mid South East netball, showcasing intense pressure from the defensive end.

The Roosters effectively shut down centre passes and demonstrated exceptional play reading from the goal circle on their way to a 17-goal win over Mount Burr.

Alannah Campbell played well off the body, preventing long passes, while Emillie Gould kept pace with the fast play.

Demi Carter provided crucial control in the attack line, working seamlessly with Sarah Laurie to set up plays and ensure shooting accuracy, while Lucy Perkins made strong and intense drives onto the goal circle.

Robe’s fitness was evident in this tight game and it maintained high pressure throughout, showing determination and readiness for finals.

Both teams came out firing in the first quarter.

Robe’s defensive circle pressure, led by Campbell and Gould, was relentless.

They capitalised on Mount Burr’s missed goal opportunities with strong rebounds and smart play reading.

On the offensive end, Carter expertly managed the attack line, ensuring control and patience were maintained as the ball was fed into the goal circle.

As a result the Roosters finished the first term with a 16-9 goal lead.

The Mozzies upped the defensive pressure in the second quarter, halting Robe’s offensive momentum.

They forced short passes and ensured dynamic movement had to be made from the Robe goalies.

Despite this, Robe’s Sophie Bates and Gould applied relentless pressure on Mount Burr’s centre passes, leading to unforced errors and giving the hosts a distinct advantage.

At half time, the score was out to 31-16 in the Rooster’s favour.

Maddie Haggett proved to be a formidable target for Mount Burr in the third quarter.

She benefited from precise feeds from Laura Schultz and the dynamic duo made it difficult for Robe’s defence.

Consequently, Mount Burr managed to close the gap and Robe only won the quarter by one goal.

However, with the margin out to 16 there remains plenty of work to be done in the last.

The Mozzies persisted in the fourth term, but Robe was too strong.

A strategic adjustment had Bates move to centre and Annie Regnier shifted to wing defence which allowed Robe to reset and regain control.

The Roosters finished the quarter strongly, sealing the game with a final score of 55-38.

Perkins and Carter were the best players for Robe on the day, while Megan Thiele and Ella Easterby were given the nod for Mount Burr.
