CELEBRATIONS were plentiful at Nangwarry on Saturday night following the Saints second A Grade football win of the season.

They hosted Tantanoola for Round 15 of Mid South Eastern football and after a close start, the home team broke away for an eventual 31-point victory.

Accuracy was an issue for the Saints in the first term and they scored 1.4 to trail by two points, with the Tigers kicking a neat two goals.

However, Nangwarry dialled in the kicking in the second term with four goals and two behinds launching it to a lead it would not give up.

Holding a 17-point lead at the main break, the Saints continued to build on that foundation in the third quarter which would be their best for scoring.

A five-goal haul kept the scoreboard pressure on, with Tantanoola answering with just a single major.

Heading into the final stanza it was a 43-point game and while the Tigers found a good run in the last, it was too little, too late.

They doubled their score with four-goals-six, but with another three majors from Nangwarry the margin remained 31 at the final siren.

Young-gun Elwood Geary was a highlight for the hosts, with an equal game-high four goals.

However, it was the efforts of George McWaters which earned the best-on-ground honours.

Archer Virtanen was another standout, while Jack Pudney featured highly in the best, along with three goals.

Isaac Raymond, Joel Virtanen and Logan Gibbs rounded out the best players, while Blake Neshoda was another multiple goal scorer with two.

For the Tigers Ethan Bowman was named best on ground, while Cade Kelly was also impressive with four goals.

Consecutive wins will not come easily for Nangwarry with a clash against Glencoe looming this weekend, while Tantanoola will face another harsh reality against an in-form Port MacDonnell.
