ACCURACY in front of goals wins football games.

That was the case on Saturday when Kalangadoo played host to Robe in Round 13 of Mid South East football.

Robe has hung around the pointy end of the ladder all season, while Kalangadoo has pushed hard in the last few rounds in an attempt to taste post-season action and defend the 2023 premiership flag.

Going head-to-head for the second time thisw season saw the Roosters stake a claim on the season with a big 62-point victory over the Magpies.

The Roosters kicked 16 goals and just four behinds, while the Magpies could only muster four major scores and 14 minors.

The writing was on the wall after the opening term, where the Roosters led by 17 points.

That extended to 18 points at the main break, mainly through Kalangadoo’s inaccurate kicking, where they banged on one major score and six behinds.

In contrast, Robe kicked two goals and just one behind for a 39-21 lead.

From there the game changed, as Robe began to use its possession up forrward to good effect.

Six straight goals came in the third term, to the magpies’ three behinds.

That blew the game apart and there was no coming back for Kalangadoo.

The final term iced the game for the Roosters, with another four major scores and one behind, compared to Kalangadoo’s two of each.

Joel Bryant and Jordan Pettit were solid focal points up forward for Robe, with three goals each.

Sam Bates, coach Nathan Brown, Ben Dinning and Jack Sneath kicked two each.

For Kalangadoo, ony coach Alex Lyon kicked multiple goals, with two to his name.

Best for the victors were Sneath, George Dutton, Thomas Wachtel, Henry Lawrie, Pettit and Dinning.

Best for Kalangadoo were Ben Gregory, Sam McManus, Thomas Williams, Tye McManus, Justin Bromley and Jack Casey.
