HATHERLEIGH 21.13 (139) D NANGWARRY 8.5 (53)

NANGWARRY continues to find avenue to goal, but Saturday saw a visit from top-placed Hatherleigh and a big defeat in Round 13 of Mid South East football.

The opening term suggested the Saints were in good touch, as they kicked four goals and just one behind.

However, the Eagles were just a touch better, with six major scores and three minors.

The second quarter opened the game up, with the Eagles kicking clear after posting another six goals, along with eight behinds.

The Saints kicked one of each and trailed by 48 points at the main break.

Nangwarry continued to inch its way along, while the Eagles had other plans and kept peppering the big sticks.

Five major scores to just one kept the scoreboard ticking over in the Roosters’ favour, but the Saints continued to present.

Hatherleigh iced the game with four last-quarter goals, while the Saints did add another couple to their score sheet.

Louis Brown topped the list with four goals for the Eagles, while Brad Mitchell and Sam Telfer kicked three each.

Jase Bateman, Jett Faulkner, Gerard McGrath and Lewis Walker kicked two major scores each.

For the Saints, Andrew Hyland and Jack Pudney kicked three goals each.

Best for the Eagles were Brad Wight, William Chay, Ayden Reid, Jack Gray and Mitchell, while Pudney, Jake Mckeon, Blake Neshoda, Joel Virtanen, Logan Gibbs and Ty Dinnison were best for the Saints.
