IT has been a tough few rounds of NBL1 South basketball for the Pioneers women.

After a strong start to the season, the recent rounds have brought a few losses to the Mount Gambier roster, but they still hold down fourth spot on the ladder.

They face the 12th placed Ringwood Hawks on Friday night at Wulanda and will hope to chalk up another victory to prevent a further slide down the ladder.

The Pioneers sit one win behind third place, with two other sides below on the same amount of wins.

That leaves no room for error, as the women look to go deep into the playoffs this season.

Zitina Aokuso should take to the floor again, after missing one game from last weekend’s double-header.

She returned in her usual devastating form and caused all kinds of hurt to the Melbourne tigers.

However, even without Aokuso in the Knox Raiders clash, the Pioneers only lost by three points.

There will certainly be plenty of resolve from the Pioneers to finish the minor rounds on a high and take a bit of control over their own destiny.

It is a game there for the taking and one not to be missed.
