WEST GAMBIER v EAST GAMBIER

AS we enter Round 10 of Limestone Coast football, another week approaches where East Gambier will be on the back foot.

The Bulldogs have struggled to post a win this season and remain at the foot of the ladder with a 0-9 record heading into this week’s clash with West Gambier.

The Roos on the other hand have had an up-and-down campaign so far.

A recent three-game losing streak was broken last round when they claimed a good win over Casterton Sandford at Island Park.

Notable performances came from the likes of Lawry Bradley-Brown, Andrew Stone and James Alrdidge, with the latter bagging a game-high five goals.

The return of playing coach Daron McElroy to the ground has boosted West’s morale and the side boasts an abundance of talent.

Braiden Ousey and McElroy share the ruck duties and both are dangerous around the contest and in front of goals too.

The teams last met in Round 5 and it was a close contest.

At the final siren the Roos emerged victorious by just 11 points, with a fourth-quarter blitz from East threatening an upset.

That result will give the Bulldogs a glimpse of hope, but it will remain a challenge against a strong West outfit.

Giancarlo Cooper enters the round off some impressive form for East.

He adds plenty of excitement both at ground level and in the air, while there are a list of family ties which have all been in good form this season.

The likes of Darcy and Reece Lillecrapp, along with Shaun, Sam and Nick Lock are all ones to watch, while Beau Nunan has had some good showings in front of the big sticks.

Under the tutelage of playing coach Jake Dowdy, East will chase a foru-quarter performance.

However, the odds lean heavily in West’s favour and the Roos should kickstart their climb up the leaderboard with another win.
