SOUTH GAMBIER v CASTERTON SANDFORD

SOUTH Gambier will endeavour to bounce back from a Round 9 loss when hosting Casterton Sandford at Blue Lake Sports Park this Saturday.

The Demons went down to ladder-leader Millicent on the weekend, which cost them their second spot.

However, with just percentage separating them from the now second-placed Tigers, the Demons will be out to reclaim the double chance.

Casterton Sandford will also be out for redemption, having fallen to West Gambier last week.

The Cats should put up a fight against South, but will certainly enter as the underdogs.

Despite last week’s loss, South was not without its highlights.

Emerson Marks was influential through the midfield, while Brayden Kain loomed large up forward.

Mason Hein is in dangerous form, not only excelling in the ruck, but also around the ground.

Throw in the likes of youngsters Cayde Watson, Mitchell Sims and Rex Jones – to name a few – and the Demons have plenty of in-form talent.

The Cats also have some stars, with Callum Currie sure to draw plenty of attention wherever he goes.

Diarmid Cleary has been another reliable performer, while the likes of Harold Pritchard and Hamish McCrae have also had some standout moments in recent rounds.

Last time the sides met it was a 17-point game in favour of the Demons.

It could be a close contest again, with that occasion coming down to a strong start from South.

If the Cats can bring the heat from the first bounce they will stand a better chance of staying in the match, but the Demons should have the legs to run away with this one.
