KALANGADOO V MOUNT BURR

ROUND 11 of Mid South East football sees Kalangadoo host Mount Burr in the match of the round.

The Mozzies currently sit in third place on the ladder, some eight points clear of the Magpies in fourth.

Kalangadoo only just reached the top four last week and will want to strengthen it hold at the pointy end.

Positions will not change regardless of the outcome, but the Magpies could put daylight between themselves and Port MacDonnell in fifth place.

Last time the two sides faced off, Kalangadoo was doing it hard, unable to string any good performances together.

The Mozzies were on a tear after a solid start to the season and claimed an eight-point win.

The Magpies will want to turn that result around this weekend and should have the ability to do just that.

The wide range of goal kickers is a bonus for the Magpies, with Dylan Bromley lighting up the scoreboard last week with eight goals.

Then the list continues, with the experienced Lachy Jones and Ben Mules, to the young Connor Gentile making his name in the league.

Of course the Mozzies have the Clint Gallio factor, along with the likes of Jack Gregory, Josh Murphy and Dylan Ridley, to name just a few, all able to contribute on the scoreboard.

Both sides come off big wins and will be confident in their own abilities.

This could be the closest contest of the round, but the Magpies should continue on with their momentum and claim a comfortable win.

GLENCOE V ROBE

ROBE will have the upper hand in this one, as Glencoe has slipped down to sixth place on the ladder thanks to last week’s big loss to Hatherleigh.

The Roosters sit second on the ladder, equal on points with Mount Burr.

Back in Round 2 the Roosters won the contest physically, with a 116-63 margin, but were disqualified, handing the win to the Murphies.

That was clearly a mistake on someone’s part and kept the Roosters out of top spot.

Since then Robe has lost to Hatherleigh and now sit in second in their own right.

Robe is another side that uses plenty of options up forward, with at least 10 individual goal scorers not uncommon.

The last win for the Murphies was against Nangwarry in Round 7.

from there they have suffered three big losses – to Port MacDonnell, Mount Burr and Hatherleigh.

It would take a huge effort of knock Robe off this weekend, with the Roosters sure to record a comfortable victory.

KONGORONG V HATHERLEIGH

WHILE Kongorong has the home-ground advantage this weekend against Hatherleigh, it will take more than that if the Hawks are to get close to the Eagles.

Hatherleigh coach Tom Hutchesson has his players in good touch, with just two close games this season – one against Glencoe back in Round 1, where the Eagles won by 14 points, then against Robe in Round 8 where they won by just 13.

other than those two games it has been easy picking for the Eagles.

In contrast, Kongorong has had a tough season so far, with just the one win coming by a solitary point against Tantanoola.

They went down to Nangwarry by 10 points and all other games have produced big losses.

The Eagles will claim this one without any problems to remain unbeaten at the pointy end of the ladder.

NANGWARRY V PORT MACDONNELL

THE bottom-placed Nangwarry will take on a Port MacDonnell side desperate to break back into the top four.

The Saints have had an up-and-down season, showing glimpses of good football, but not enough to do much damage.

They did claim a 10-point win over Kongorong back in Round 8, but apart from that, the highlights have been few and far between.

The Demons have not had the most productive season so far, with some big losses interspersed with victories.

Back in Round 2 when the two sides last faced off, the Demons claimed a 78-point victory, with the Saints able to kick nine major scores to add some respect to the final margin.

The Demons have since struggled for consistency and come off a big loss at the hands of Kalangadoo.

They will want to return to the winner’s circle in style this weekend, which will do Nangwarry no favours.
