KALANGADOO hosted Port MacDonnell in Round 10 of Mid South East netball on Saturday, with a comfortable win to the Magpies.
The Indigenous round clash proved to be a great contest between the two sides.
Within the first five minutes it was clear it was going to be a tight tussle, even with Kalangadoo back to their full list.
Lauren Kain was back on the court had a big task to contain Megan Hein.
The first half of netball went back and fourth, with both teams defensive pressure creating many turnovers.
Port MacDonnell’s Alana Berkfield and Emily Thompson rebounded any missed opportunities from Kalangadoo, with Hein a focal point in the Demons’ goal circle.
Alysha Coon and Jayde Peacock took turns in controlling the centre and flow of the court, with both feeding their goalies with precision.
The second half became a little more one-sided on the score board, which did not reflect the intensity of the game.
Berkfield, Kate Faint and Thompson worked overtime to disrupt the flow of the Magpies’ attack line, but the feeding of Peacock and Jane Auld allowed Ebony BcDiarmid and Abbey Duncan to find more space in the circle, shooting with accuracy on any turnovers the defensive end of Georgia Gentile, Kain and Lara Munro created.
By the third break Kalangadoo had a seven-goal lead and through the defensive pressure of Kain and Munro in the circle, was able to regain possession to increase their lead to 14 by the last whistle.
Peacock was named the recipient of the inaugural Brennan Indigenous round medal.
