Mount Gambier dominates Superdrome track event

THE Mount Gambier Cycling Club made a strong showing at the first of four Superdrome track events held in Adelaide.

The event, hosted at the Adelaide Superdrome, featured 50 riders from across the region, including participants from as far as Whyalla.

Nine cyclists represented Mount Gambier out of the 50 competitors, competing in a range of events, including the scratch race, keirin, moto pace, win and out and the heart starter.

These events provided a valuable opportunity for country riders to gain experience on the indoor velodrome, a different challenge compared to their usual outdoor races.

The competition was intense, with each rider earning points for both participation and performance.

The Mount Gambier team excelled, leading the tally at the end of the day with a total of 132 points.

They were followed by the South Coast Cycling Club with 109 points and the Norwood Cycling Club with 104.

The success of the Mount Gambier club not only showcased their skills and determination, but also highlighted the depth of talent in the region’s cycling community.

With three more rounds to go, the competition promises to remain fierce.

The next round of the series is scheduled for Saturday, July 6.
