THE Limestone Coast Football Netball League is gearing up for its first appearance at the South Australian Country Netball Championships this weekend at the Netball SA Stadium in Adelaide.

The newly formed league is sending five teams to the state event and will look forward to building on the foundation of its representative performances built in its era as the Western Border Netball Association.

The league has filled teams in the Under 17, Under 15 and Under 13 age groups, with the Under 15’s and 13’s taking two sides each, being a championship team and a development team.

All six clubs are represented across the junior ranks and will put the skills to the test against the best country talent South Australia has to offer.

Experienced coach Michelle Skeer will head up with talented 17 and Under roster which boasts a contingent of versatile players who for the most part are starting members of their respective clubs’ A Grade and A Reserve line-ups.

Donna Denton will take on the 15 and Under Championship team coaching duties, which also has a handful of players who slot into the top senior grades in their local league.

The 15 and Under Development team will be coached by Lillie Paul who will make her debut as a coach after already building an impressive resume as a player despite her youth.

Larnka Foran brings her enthusiasm and experience to the 13 and Under Championship team, while Jackie Sunderland is another debutant coach ready to make her mark with the 13 and Under Development side.

It has been a huge task to create and source new uniforms, apparel and equipment for the Championships, with thanks going to all sponsors and volunteers for the effort put in to ensure the 2024 Country Championships contingent will hit the courts running.

Nicola Smith, Tracy McShane and Emma Grigg will also add some local flavour to the umpiring cohort as they represent the league at this weekend’s event.
