Rothall on top at eight-ball Open

BIG WEEKEND: There was plenty of eight-ball talent on show during the weekend's Mount Gambier Open tournament.

A FIELD of 71 players competed in the annual Mount Gambier Open eight-ball tournament over the weekend.

In the end it was Adelaide’s David Rothall who claimed the honours, securing the title over Mount Gambier’s Richard Peters.

The top women were two Mount Gambier players with Kaye Earl and Benni Rosmann both making the top 16.

Other highlights from the weekend included some young talent which was on show, with two juniors competing against the Open field.

They were Adelaide 17-year-old Chev Dickinson who made the top 16 and 13-year-old Portland youngster Elija Ngati.

Ngati did not qualify, but did manage to take a couple of games in the minor rounds, suggesting both players have promising futures in cue sports.
