HATHERLEIGH 18.17 (125) D PORT MACDONNELL 11.3 (69)

THE Mid South East football match of the round between Hatherleigh and Port MacDonnell promised much, but unfortunately did not deliver as the Eagles ran away with the contest after a spirited second half.

The game was tight up until the long break, with just four points separating the two sides at quarter time.

The Demons remained in touch in the second term, trailing by six points at the main break, but from there the Eagles flicked a switch and darkness descended on Port MacDonnell’s hopes of a home-ground win.

The hosts could only muster two goals in the third term, but in contrast, the Eagles banged on five to take a 31-point lead to the final break.

The Demons found three more majors in the final stanza, but in answer, the Eagles added a further seven to deny the home side any chance of a come-back.

Patrick Chay was in fine touch up forward with seven goals, while Louis Brown kicked four.

The remaining score came from single goal kickers.

Hatherleigh’s best were Ayden Reid, Chay, Cameron Slape, Lewis Walker, Louis Brown and Gerard McGrath.

For the Demons, Tim Sullivan was again a strong focal point up forward, with four major scores, while Colby Munro and Alex Ridding chipped in with two each.

Best for the Demons were Riley Morgan, William Macdonald, Ned Wilke, Joshua Woodall, Munro and Sullivan.
