THE Port MacDonnell Bowling Club held its Championship Mixed Pairs on Sunday, with 13 pairs participating.
The first round saw George Johnson defeat Graham Hutchesson, Kel Butler defeat Barrie Schmidt, Heather Richards defeat Adam Wilson, Tim Wrightson defeat Ian Moulden and Dave Beaman defeat Graham Lucas.
The second round saw Butler defeat Johnson, Wrightson defeat Richards, Beaman defeat Rod Sutton and Danny Gaut defeat Wayne Dowdell.
The third round saw Butler defeat Wrightson to progress to the final and Beaman defeat Gaut to take on Butler in the main game.
Butler and Sharon Perryman defeated Dave and Julie Beaman in the final over 15 ends.
Butler and Perryman were off to good start and after five ends led 9-1.
With steady bowling they ran out winners 18-11.
Butler and Perryman played good bowls from the start and Butler stamped his authority on the games with well-weighted bowls to cut back a deficit of two or three shots to one on many occasions.
On Saturday at Naracoorte RSL the Port MacDonnell women of Heather Richards, Judy Grosvenor and Jan Dowdell did the the club proud by winning the Region 1 singles and triples Champion of Champions.
