THE latest round of South East Veterans golf was greeted by a large field of 86 at the Robe Golf Club.

The course is popular due to its challenging nature and players were met by fine conditions on the day.

Blue Lake golfer Doug Robbins won the Division 1 competition with an impressive 40 points.

A countback was needed to decide second place, with Tony Wilson edging out Brian Pennell.

Newcomer Duncan Young from Beachport won Division 2 with 36 points, followed by Chris Carr and Gordon Wynn on 31 points.

The BTP’s were won by Alan Schultz, Robbins, Kym St John and Rob McIntyre, with a score of 28 or better enough to win a ball.

The Ross Orchard trophy was won by a smiling Peppi Pace and Ian Todd.

The SE Veterans season ends on March 4 at the Blue Lake course, with the next season to start with the AGM at Mount Gambier on March 18.

The committee is always seeking new blood from around the South East to assist in running the association.

Nominations are encouraged for anyone interested, with tasks not too demanding and meetings occasionally conducted after play, but not lasting more than 15 minutes.
