EAST GAMBIER 10/194 D NORTH SPORTSMAN’S 10/99

EAST Gambier needed just three wickets to account for North Sportsman’s in Round 9 of Barber Shield cricket on Saturday.

The Bulldogs were chasing 100 runs for the victory and began day two of play at 1/27.

Dion Stratford departed on the opening day, but from there East dug in and began to compile the runs required.

Alex Hill was caught and bowled by Elliott Fisher for 16 with the total at 59, then Emerson Marks was bowled by Matthew Robinson for 17, with the total passed and the victory secured.

That left plenty of overs for the Bulldogs to bat and they made the most of it.

Opener Ben Robinson faced 208 deliveries for his half-century (51), before he was lbw to Matthew Robinson just one run later and the Bulldogs were still sitting pretty at 4/104.

a few more double-figure tallies followed, with Marc Roberts another victim of Robinson, caught for 11.

Riley Flamank then completed Robinson’s four-wicket haul, out for just two runs, with Ben Hentschke next to go for a well-compiled 26, caught off the bowling of Tim Young.

Evan Clark could only contribute five runs, but Liam Turley and Connor Little ensured a few more runs were added to the total.

Turley went for 23 and Little was unbeaten on 14, with Alex Hentschke the last to fall for three runs, as the Bulldogs reached a total of 194.

With the ball, North’s Robinson finished with figures of 4/18 off 12 overs.
