Good aim to start New Year

A FIELD of 71 competitors attended the opening event of the year for the Lake Bonney Sporting Clays Association.

A mixture of new and returning shooters tested their skills against 75 targets and at the end of the day Chris Wright secured the high gun honours with a score of 68/75.

AA Grade was won by Kingston shooter Bruce Parker on 67/75, just one target behind the high gun.

Second place went to visiting Ballarat shooter Sam Wilson after a countback with local Tom Weir who claimed third.

Local Warren Whitehead won a countback against Ian Vearing to take first in A Grade, while Scott Fleming placed third.

Another countback was needed in B Grade with Stuart Harris winning over Dale Smith and Steve Goen rounding out the top three.

C Grade was won by Rob VanStanten after yet another countback, which relegated Ray Cadwell to second followed by Trevor Whitehead in third.

Greg Kessegian had a commanding win in the Seniors grade ahead of returning shooter Andrew Green.

First in Veterans went to local shooter Geoff Lowe after a countback with Neville Kent, both just a single target ahead of Greg Todd.

Tasha Bellinger won the women’s class from Bec Kober and Grace Wilson in second and third respectively.

Juniors was won by Heath Jonhnston with a score of 42/75.

Jack Dyson took out first in the Sub Juniors grade with a score of 64/75, while second went to Vinnie Baker and third to Isla Gordon.
