ROBE football fans are in for a treat next week when the Adelaide Crows men’s AFL team makes the trip to the seaside town.

The entire playing list will visit for a two-day training camp,

Over the two days they will combine training with team building exercises and a game of cricket.

The Crows are led by captain and All-Australian Jordan Dawson, who will take the team to his home town.

Kingston’s Luke Pedlar will also be familiar with the territory, while Lucindale’s Darcy Fogarty and Mundulla’s Mitch Hinge also hail from the South East.

Wednesday’s training session (January 24) will be open to the public to watch and will be held at the Robe Football Club oval on O’Halloran Street.

The session will take place from 9.30-11am and will be followed by a chance for fans to meet the players, participate in giveaways and get photos with their favourite players.

Dawson looked forward to showing the whole team a glimpse of his hometown.

“It’s a privilege to go home and I’m really passionate about showing the boys where I’m from,” he said.

“It’s also a good opportunity for us to get away as a group and bond just before the season with a few team activities.”

After starting his career as a junior Rooster, Dawson looked forward to the opportunity to go back to his old club, now as an AFL captain.

“It will be a full circle moment for me being able to go to Robe as a club and reminisce on the times I was playing footy on the oval where we are going to train which is pretty cool,” he said.

“To have a training session where kids can come and watch and know that it is possible to play AFL from that area is great, and likewise with Hingey, Fog and Pedlar who are from the South East as well which is really special.”

The camp aims to strengthen relations in the team ahead of the 2024 AFL Premiership season, with the Crows’ season starting on March 16 against the Gold Coast Suns.
