THE penultimate round of the men’s Country Basketball League season is here, but it is the final minor round for the Millicent Magic.

Just like the Mount Gambier Lakers, the Magic have a double-header road trip to round out the minor season, with a playoff spot guaranteed.

The Magic currently sit comfortably in fourth position, with three wins clear to the sixth-placed Terang Tornadoes.

That makes this weekend all about fine tuning and they will certainly face a tough challenge to record two wins.

The opening match on Saturday should provide a victory against the Ararat Redbacks.

The Redbacks are languishing down the ladder and have chalked up just two wins for the season.

Last Sunday the Magic gave the Redbacks a taste of what is to come, as the comfortably defeated the visitors at Millicent 84-67.

Sunday provides a real challenge and a chance to see where the Magic sit.

The top-placed Horsham Hornets dealt the Magic an 18-point loss back in Round 5 and have looked just as strong all season.

Millicent will need everything to go right to claim a win, but is certainly in with a chance.
