Christmas shoot wraps up year of events

HIGH GUN: High Gun winner and 2023 Champion of Champions Jeremy Kent.

A FIELD of 93 wrapped up the year’s events when contesting the Lake Bonney Sporting Clays Christmas shoot.

The 60-target Christmas novelty event was well contested, with Jeremy Kent the high gun winner for the round with 59/60.

Bruce Parker settled for the AA Grade win with 57, while Mark Fabris was runner-up on 54.

Bill Dyson’s 59 was more than enough to win A Grade from Warren Whitehead, with the B Grade victory going to Phil Crane with his 56.

Luke Rainsford won C Grade with a 46/60 and Chris Wright was the best of the senior with 56.

The veterans win went to Neville Kent on 58 and Tasha Bellinger was 10 targets clear on top of the women’s competition.

Declan Wright and James Whitty won the juniors and sub juniors respectively.

A champion of champions shoot off was held after the main event, where all shooters who had won a high gun during the year competed for the top honours.

Kent claimed the win by a single target over Lake Bonney’s Danny Bellinger.

At the start of presentations Meagan Whitehead, Pete Sims and Lee Sims were presented with life membership and thanked for their year of hard work around the club.

The yearly aggregate trophies were also presented on the day.

Tony Sellars took out the off-the-gun high gun, while the handicap high gun went to Perry Gurney.

Seniors high gun was won by Casterton shooter Doug Cowland and Gary Dangerfield won the veteran prize for the year.

Heath Johnston won the junior category, while the top spot in the sub junior class went to Liam Millard.

It was no surprise to see Tasha Bellinger take out the women’s grade honours.

The fundraising auction was a success with shooters, visitors and families all in on the action.

Lake Bonney Sporting Clays wishes all a Merry Christmas and happy New Year.
