INTERNATIONAL 2 d MILLICENT UNITED 1

INTERNATIONAL held off Millicent to take home the three points in Round 13 of the Limestone Coast Women’s Premier League on Saturday.

The clash between third and fourth on the ladder was a back and forth affair and an Evany Rex brace proved the difference between the two sides.

Rex opened the scoring for Inter at McLaughlin Park with a goal in the 26th minute.

However, the hosts soon hit back through Lana Shepherd as she found the back of the net just before half time.

With scores level at the break, a close second half was expected and Rex was again at the forefront when she scored her second goal of the game in the 54th minute.

Inter then held out United for the remainder of the contest to claim an important win away from home.

International has now booked itself a spot in the top three and kept its faint top-two hopes alive.

Inter trails the second-placed Blue Lake by six points with two rounds left and will need to win both of its games and hope the Rangers lose both to leapfrog them into the qualifying final.

BLUE LAKE 5 d NARACOORTE UNITED 0

A second half blitz from Blue Lake was the difference on Sunday.

The Rangers went into the clash as favourites but Naracoorte was boosted by the fact it claimed a drought-breaking win against Blue Lake the last time they met.

The first half was a tense affair as neither side could break the deadlock.

However, the second half was a polar opposite of the first as the clash turned into a Blue Lake goal-fest.

Jasmine White scored the first goal of the game in the 53rd minute too kick-start the onslaught.

Shortly after, Naracoorte conceded a penalty which was then converted by Chelsea Frost to double the visitors’ lead.

White then found the back of the net for the second time in the 69th minute before Amber Lindquist made it 4-0 four minutes later.

White then completed her hat-trick just three minutes from full-time to round out a five-star performance from the reigning premiers.

The clash between Apollo and Gambier Centrals was postponed due to the weather.

Looking ahead to this weekend, Blue Lake and Apollo will do battle on Saturday in a top-of-the-table clash, while Centrals will host Inter at MGA Park.

On Sunday, Millicent will pay visit to Naracoorte with action kicking off at 1pm.
