HATHERLEIGH v TANTANOOLA

The Eagles and the Tigers face-off in the match of the round this weekend at Tantanoola.

Tigers goalies Emma Gould and Keryl Ousey may not be able to use their height to their advantage as they typically would with the strength and vertical leap of Maddie Redman and Elly Redden.

Hatherleigh’s goalies Maddie Pulmer and Demi Vanderhorst will have to work hard to move in the circle and get the ball past Tantanoola’s strong defensive line-up of Tayla Rowe and Kate Bromley.

Kate Varcoe and Erin Watson will fight hard for the ball down the court, neither one giving an inch.

Both teams will come out firing and this clash could go either way but the Tigers will have an extra boost knowing they claimed the win last time these two sides met.

KALANGADOO v PORT MACDONNELL

Kalangadoo hosts Port MacDonnell this weekend after a week off for the Magpies.

When these teams met earlier in the year, the Magpies claimed a 62-33 win down at the Bay.

Kalangadoo’s Abbey Duncan and Ebony McDiarmid combine well together, with both goalies shooting with accuracy.

Demons defenders Alana Berkefeld and Alysha Coon will create pressure for the Magpies goalies but the accurate feeding from outside the ring will prevail.

Kori Collins and Megan Hein combine well in the goal circle for the Demons, moving well and shooting with accuracy.

However, the added pressure of Kalangadoo’s Lauren Kain and Lara Munro will make it hard for the Demons’ attack line to feed into their goalies.

Kalangadoo’s strength and endurance will prove too much for the Demons, with the Pies coming away with the win.

NANGWARRY v GLENCOE

Nangwarry hosts the Murphies this weekend in what will likely be a one-sided affair.

Looking back at Round 7, Glencoe put on an absolute clinic on its home court to claim a monster 76-11 win.

It was a relentless four-quarter performance on that occasion as they limited the Saints to just one goal in the third stanza when these sides last met.

Looking ahead to this week, Glencoe’s Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen have proven to be a formidable defensive combination and will make it difficult for Nangwarry’s attack line once again.

Nangwarry goalies Hayley Vanderhorst and Demi Hoffmeister combine well in the goal circle but will be up against it when they take on the reigning premiers.

Glencoe goalies Jenna Paproth and Chantelle Cocks have been in fine form and will look replicate their efforts from the last clash between these two sides.

Ultimately, the Murphies will have too much class for the Nangwarry but the Saints will be hoping they can show signs of improvement on their home court.

MOUNT BURR v KONGORONG

The Hawks head to Mount Burr this weekend to face off against the Mozzies in what could be an intriguing battle.

Mount Burr is currently seventh on the ladder with four wins for the year, while Kongorong is eighth with just the solitary victory.

When the two sides met in Round 7, the Mozzies proved too good and claimed a solid 43-20 win.

However, there have been some signs of improvement from the young Hawks line-up in recent weeks and a closer battle could occur this weekend.

Mount Burr’s Laura Schultz and Ella Easterby will be pivotal in the mid-court and have fed the ball effectively this season to goalies Lauren Wheeler and Ebony Clark.

However, Kongorong’s Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody will apply intense pressure and make it difficult to get the ball into the circle.

The return of Madi Haggett to Mount Burr’s defensive line-up has proven to be influential and when combined with Olivia Dean, they have proven to be a tough defensive combination.

The duo will make life difficult for Hawks goalies Tilah Buckingham and Evie Sealey.

However, the height of Buckingham will likely ask questions of the Mozzies’ defence.

Mount Burr should prove too strong and will come away with the win but a strong performance is expected from the Hawks.
