NANGWARRY v GLENCOE

Glencoe will return to the winner’s list when visiting Nangwarry for Round 16.

The Murphies’ hot streak came to an end against Mount Burr last week, with not even a seven-goal third quarter enough to avoid the Mozzies’ sting.

Now they visit the bottom-placed Saints with the aim to bounce back in a big way.

Glencoe was led by example last round with coach Tom Edwards named best on ground and he will be looked to again.

Back in Round 7 the Saints put in a high-scoring performance against their rival.

They scored an impressive 95 points, but still succumbed to the Murphies by over 14 goals.

On that occasion Glencoe put eight goals on the board in both the first and second quarters to breach the 100-point mark by half time.

Patrick Mitchell and Tory Weaver led the onslaught with nine and seven goals respectively for the match, while it was Zacc Cocks and Edwards who topped the best player’s list.

For Nangwarry leading goal kicker Andrew Hyland hit his target five times, while Joel Virtanen was also good, bagging three goals and a feature highly in the best.

Finals are out of reach for both teams, but they will be looking to finish the year off strongly, with Glencoe the sure bet to win.
