MOUNT BURR V HATHERLEIGH

Time is running out for Mount Burr to make a play at the Mid South East football top four, with this week’s Round 14 clash against Hatherleigh a must-win for the Mozzies.

The Mozzies have the home-ground advantage and will need every bit of it to overcome the in-form Eagles.

Back in Round 5 the two sides met at Hatherleigh and the Eagles were victorious, despite an early onslaught by the Mozzies.

Mount Burr led for the first half, but was over-run by a strong Hatherleigh roster on the back of a five-goal haul to Patrick Chay.

The Mozzies have suffered three losses on the trot – to Tantanoola, Kalangadoo and Port MacDonnell – and will want to return to the winner’s list.

In contrast, Hatherleigh has won four games in a row, including last week’s victory over Robe to shake the top end of the ladder up a bit more.

It appears the Eagles are tracking well, with the feel around the club positive, with Tom Hutchesson now pencilled in for the 2024 coaching job and the training track full.

It will be a big job for the Mozzies to end the Eagles’ winning streak, but they have shown plenty of grit this season, despite the 6/6 win/loss record.

If they can start fast like in the Round 5 clash, then remain focused for the full four quarters, anything is possible.

However, another victory will basically lock in finals for the Eagles and they will not want to let that opportunity slip by.
