SOUTH GAMBIER v NORTH GAMBIER

THE Demons would have rated their chances in Round 10 against East Gambier but a last-quarter fade out cost South the victory.

Now the task becomes even tougher when hosting North Gambier this weekend.

Stopping the scoring power of former team mate Grace Potts looms large, while South will also need to work its way through the defensive pressure applied by Mel Renko, Lauran Norman, Noni McConnell and Mikaila Pitt.

The Potts dilemma starts with mid-court pressure so Ellie Bouchier will need to be at her best in denying Macey Griffith too much ball.

Griffith is an accurate feeder at goal attack, while controlling Brianna Walters may be a task that falls to Ruby Richter in the absence of Tully McShane.

Alyssa Duncan will again be critical for South with her leadership in the attacking third and her workrate further up the court.

Her ability to shake off McConnell’s tight checking will be key in setting up her young shooting partner Gracie Dalton in good position.

The Tigers just look too experienced and too well drilled to allow the Demons to conjure an upset.

Regardless the young South lineup will look to stay in touch and not let the scoreboard blow out.
