EAST GAMBIER v MILLICENT

EAST Gambier outlasted a tenacious South Gambier in Round 10 and will look to step up again when the Bulldogs host Millicent this weekend.

On the other hand the Saints will want to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at the hands of West Gambier last round, after leading for the first three quarters.

East defender Morgan Amy thrives on the challenge of taking on the tall shooters in the competition and she will set herself for her battle with Saints shooter Tabatha Sanderson.

Sanderson is well fed by Demi Verbena, who will also be damaging with her long-range shooting, as well as Daisy Tunkin and Lillie Paul.

Amy will look for her defensive partner Bo Creek to make life tough for Verbena, with Chloe Perryman putting her defensive prowess to work as well to pressure the Millicent feeders.

The East shooting circle of Renee Henke and Casey Horrigan looms as a different challenge for Millicent defenders Portia McRae and Lauren VanEeden.

It is a small moving circle and the young Saints defenders will need to take advantage of their superior height and reach to dominate the air.

They will certainly have an advantage in the rebounding duels so accuracy will be key for the Bulldogs shooting duo.

Getting the ball will also prove challenging for East as Millicent prides itself on full court pressure, led by Lisa Duldig on the defensive wing with Paul also having a strong defensive mindset.

Millicent should secure the victory comfortably as it looks to start building towards the 2023 finals series.
