THE reigning premiers shoed their class with a commanding victory in Round 11 of Mid South Eastern netball.

Glencoe started well with quick transition, while the goalies of Chantelle Cocks and Jenna Paproth were finding space and capitalising on Hatherleigh’s early mistakes.

However, the defensive combination of Maddie Redman and Elly Redden were stepping up to get hands to many balls, allowing Hatherleigh to work back into the contest in the second half of the first quarter.

After a back an forth opening term, the Murphies held an early three-goal advantage.

The second quarter was highly contested with mid-court players of Erin Watson and Rosie Nettle for Hatherleigh and Donna Jaeschke and Alice Tentye for Glencoe displaying expertise in feeding their respective goalies.

Lara MacGregor was making Tentye work for every ball and managed to get a few crucial turns for Hatherleigh.

The game was balanced on a knife’s edge at the main break with Glencoe holding a two-goal lead.

The Murphies remained unchanged in the third quarter, while Hatherleigh made a change in the goal circle bringing Abby Wight on.

The scores were level halfway through the third term before Glencoe took control with strong teamwork and accurate shooting from Paproth to go into the last eight goals up.

The Eagles made another change in their defence end putting MacGregor in the circle with Redman where they defended strongly and created turnovers.

However, with Glencoe’s physicality, Hatherleigh could not convert its opportunities with many errors and as a result, the Murphies steamed ahead to claim a 19-goal win.

Tentye and Cocks were the best players for Glencoe while the Eagles’ best were MacGregor and Redman.
