PORT MacDonnell hosted its neighbours the Hawks in what is always a fun, friendly rivalry in Round 11 of Mid South Eastern netball.

The first quarter was a close one – all goalies starting off nervously with a few misses early, before settling in and getting some scores on the board.

Megan Hein and Kori Collins in the goal circle were working well together for the Bay, while down the other end it was Tilah Buckingham doing the majority of shooting for the Hawks as Port MacDonnell captain and goal defence Alana Berkefeld kept Hawks goal attack Evie Sealey relatively under control.

The Demons held a slender lead 11-9 at quarter time.

In the second quarter, Tilah Buckingham’s height was proving troublesome for the Bay’s Alysha Coon, as she scored 11 goals and missed just one attempt.

Berkefeld continued her dominance – creating many turnovers for the Bay.

Liza Mutch at centre and Shannon Scheidl at wing attack for Port MacDonnell provided good drive into attack, while Riley Buckingham and fill-in Emilia Kerr were working hard in defence for the Hawks, Hein and Collins were dominant in goals for the Bay.

The Demons were having a hard time pulling and only held a three-goal lead at half-time.

The third quarter saw a few changes for the Bay, the experienced Michelle Moore came on into centre and had a great tussle with Ebony Lawson who was having a good game for the Hawks.

Port MacDonnell also switched Coon and Berkefeld.

Coon drove well down the court at goal defence, while Berkefeld put the pressure on Tilah Buckingham.

Hein had a strong quarter – shooting 10 goals to help the Bay extend its lead to seven at the final change.

The Hawks switched defenders Riley Buckingham and Kerr in the last quarter, while Port MacDonnell remained unchanged.

Riley Buckingham did some nice work at goal keeper and created a few turnovers for her team.

Collins had a strong quarter at goal attack and was well-supported by Hein who was having a great game.

Tilah Buckingham and Sealey in goals for the Hawks continued to work hard but Berkefeld and Coon slowly gained the upper hand.

The Demons ran out winners but Kongorong were hard to shake and put in a strong overall performance.

Hein and Collins were the best for the Demons, while Sealey and Kerr were the Hawks’ best.
