APOLLO 1 d/w BLUE LAKE 1

ROUND 9 of Limestone Coast women’s soccer kicked off with a 1-1 draw between Apollo and Blue Lake in a top of the table clash on Saturday.

In a hard-fought contest, there was little to separate the two sides in the opening half and it seemed like the first half was going to end without either side finding the back of the net.

However, just one minute before the half, Jasmine White broke the deadlock to give Blue Lake a one-goal lead at the break.

Shortly after the half time interval, Apollo equalised through Zoe Brooksby to set up a thrilling final 30 minutes.

However, neither side could find the breakthrough and both sides had to settle for one point.

MILLICENT UNITED 4 d NARACOORTE UNITED 0

Millicent returned to form in style with a strong win over Naracoorte on Sunday,

Fresh off the back of a historic win a week earlier, Naracoorte was up to the challenge and with 35 minutes left in the game, the score remained 0-0.

However, a 22-minute barrage from Millicent dashed Naracoorte’s hopes of another upset.

Dianne Wilson opened the scoring with a goal for the hosts in the 57th minute, before Kelsie Wilkinson doubled the advantage just three minutes later,

Wilson scored her second goal in the 75th minute before Letitia Izzo put the icing on the cake one minute before full time.

INTERNATIONAL 3 d GAMBIER CENTRALS 0

International surged into second place on the ladder with a dominant performance against Gambier Centrals at Casadio Park on Sunday.

The hosts had plenty of opportunities early on but could not find the breakthrough as the scores remained locked at 0-0 at half time.

Inter remained undeterred and came out firing in the second half to turn the tides of the contest.

In the 50th minute of the game, Stephanie Gilbert broke the deadlock to give the girls in black and blue the advantage.

From there, there was no looking back as captain April Hockey was at the forefront to double her side’s lead in the 61st minute.

Then, just one minute later, Isabella Morello made it 3-0 to Inter to seal the victory for the hosts.

Looking at the ladder, Apollo remains at the top with 22 points.

Inter and Blue Lake are both tied on 16 points but the former boasts a goal difference of 11 as opposed to Blue Lake’s -2.

After returning to the winner’s circle, Millicent remains in fourth place with 12 points but now has a six-point lead over the fifth-placed Naracoorte.

Centrals occupy sixth place with five points.

As for the golden boot race, there has been no change at the top with Apollo’s Deni Atkin and Millicent’s Lana Shepherd still tied on 12 goals each.

White remains in the hunt with nine goals to her name, while Inter’s Evany Rex is also a chance on eight goals.
