WEST GAMBIER 16.7 (103) D CASTERTON SANDFORD 9.4 (58)

WHILE Island Park may be the home territory of the Casterton Sandford Cats, that was not the case on Saturday, as West Gambier controlled the Round 6 Western Border football clash.

The Roos bounded out of the box to put on a five-goal first term, while holding Casterton to just one major score.

The Cats began to find some run, but West extended the margin to 33 points at the main break and looked in the box seat to claim the win.

Casterton reduced the margin by one point in the third term, but a solid final quarter saw the Roos run away with the points.

Jordan Williams, Jesse Pfitzner and Andrew Stone were the three best for West, despite a bag of six goals to Daron McElroy.

Williams banged home five goals, with the remainder from singles.

Hamish McCrae was best in front of goal for the Cats, with four majors, while Michael Krieger and Josh Serle kicked two each.

Diarmid Cleary, Krieger and McCrae were best for the Cats.
