A THIRD-QUARTER burst ensured Hatherleigh claimed victory in its Mid South East football Round 7 clash against Tantanoola.

A see-sawing first half of football suggested the result was up in the air, with the Eagles leading at the long break but by just 12 points, after the Tigers put in a solid second term.

However, from there the Eagles began to find some form and opened the game up in the third quarter.

Hatherleigh pushed hard and banged on eight major scores for the quarter, while holding Tantanoola scoreless to open a big 64-point margin.

The Tigers were never going to close the margin from there, but to their credit they continued to fight hard and added a further four majors scores for the final stanza, while limiting the Eagles to just one.

Tom Hutchesson was again in good touch for the victors, topping the score sheets with five goals.

Lyndon Smith, Jed Telfer and Jake Wight added two each.

Jack Dawe was again a shining light up forward for the Tigers, with four majors to his name.

Sam Gray, Telfer, Hutchesson, Jase Bateman and Matthew Fabris were named best for the victors.

For Tantanoola, Braydn Hateley, Cam Saint, Cade Kelly, Dawe and Zachary Walker were given the nod.
