Day to remember for Shanks

THERE were 16 women who played a stroke event on the short course at the Millicent Golf Club last week.

Kathy Webber claimed victory in A Grade with an impressive nett score of 71.

Bronwyn Clarke was a close runner-up with a score of 72 and claimed the second sport on the podium after a count-back.

In B Grade, Karen Altschwager put in a resounding performance and prevailed with a nett score of 63.

Sharne Peacock was runner-up with a nett score of 65 and also won the nine-hole competition on the back nine with her score of 31.5.

In lovely weather conditions we had 16 women play a stroke event on the short course.

Bec Shanks, Lois Tilley and Heid Muhovics were the ball winners.

It was an unforgettable round for Shanks as she hit a hole in one on the fifth hole.

Mary Winser was the closest to the pin on the third hole, while Kirsty Bailey was the closest for the second shot on the 18th hole.

There were several players who put in fine performances as Debbie Tincknell, Altschwager, Webber, Clarke, Winser and Karen Lock all recorded birdies.
