MILLICENT V EAST GAMBIER

Millicent is set host East Gambier on Saturday as the Western Border Football League heads into the second round of competition.

The Round 6 clash sees the reigning premiers in a good place, undefeated at the top of the ladder, while at the other end, East is yet to record a victory and occupy the bottom rung.

The two sides faced off back in Round 1 and the result was an easy victory to the Saints.

That came on the back of a six-goal haul to Jacob Carger, along with another five from Jaxon Cushion.

With plenty of possession up forward, eight Saints hit the scoreboard for major scores, including coach Clint Gallio to lead by example.

The statistics were not as kind to the Bulldogs, with just four goal kickers.

Shaun Lock and Carl Slape both nailed three majors but there was little else to talk about.

It was a consistent effort by the Saints, who led at every break and simply extended the lead as the game unfolded.

A solid defensive effort kept East scoreless in the second term, while at the other end the Saints banged on six majors.

It is hard to see anything changing at this stage, with Millicent sure to chalk up another victory on their home soil.
