AN exciting contest took place at Tantanoola on Saturday as the Tigers claimed an eight-goal win on their home court in Round 6 of Mid South Eastern netball.

Tantanoola started the match strongly making use of their height in Emma Gould and Keryl Ousey.

Port MacDonnell sorely missed the height of Alana Berkefeld who unfortunately was unavailable due to illness.

However, the Demons still managed to match the intensity of the Tigers and contested all the way down the court, getting their hands to balls and creating turnovers.

Tayla Rowe and Kate Bromley made their presence felt with tight defensive pressure and strong rebounds.

Rowe also utilized her athleticism to take some timely interceptions.

Megan Hein showed great leadership for the Demons, dominating in goals and directing play through the mid-court.

With some long passes into their goal circle, Jami Walker and Kate Varcoe fed to their goalies with patience and precision.

Port MacDonnell’s transition out of their defensive third was well executed and showed great teamwork with some impressive timing.

Ousey and Gould overcame physical pressure and continued to shoot with accuracy, using their strength under the ring to rebound and convert any missed shots.

Despite the dominance of Tantanoola’s goalers, Port MacDonnell’s defence in Alysha Coon and Kate Faint put their bodies on the line and were rewarded with turnovers.

Tantanoola had a strong lead of 14 goals beginning the third quarter which forced Port MacDonnell to make changes in their line-up.

Young gun Lara Wilson took the court at goal shooter, shooting with extreme accuracy and combining well with Kori Collins.

Wilson scored the first goal of the quarter and looked confident playing at A Grade level.

Tantanoola’s Casey Walker had a great battle with her opponent, Michelle Moore on the wing.

The Demons won the quarter by four goals and gave the visitors a glimmer of hope heading into the final stanza.

The fourth quarter saw Port MacDonnell increase its intensity with Wilson being a focal point for the Demons.

The strong tussle in the centre position was a feature of the game, both playing consistently for their teams.

Ousey showed determination, taking several interceptions to keep the netball in Tantanoola’s attack line.

Jami Walker led the way for the Tigers in the final stages as they claimed a solid eight-goal win.

Varcoe and Gould were best players for Tantanoola, while Faint and Liza Mutch.
