THE Murphies showed their class on Saturday as they claimed a comfortable 14-goal win over the Mozzies in Round 6 of Mid South Eastern netball.

There was little to separate the two sides in the first quarter as the defensive combination of Olivia Dean and Caitlyn Payne applied pressure on Glencoe goalies Laura Childs and Jenna Paproth.

Glencoe started the second quarter strongly as it converted the first two scoring shots.

Defensive pressure from Glencoe Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen made it hard for Mount Burr goalies Ebony Clarke and Lauren Wheeler.

The trio forced turnovers which the Murphies capitalised on and scored off the back of.

The Mozzies’ Ebony Clark came off at goal shooter and Maddie Butler came on for her first A grade game.

Mount Burr’s centre Laura Schultz worked hard to drive the ball into attack and feed her goalies.

However, Glencoe continued to dictate the contest.

The third quarter was tightly contested as Jaeschke and Schultz continued to be pivotal players for their respective sides.

The Murphies only managed to win the quarter by one goal in what proved to be a much more even stanza.

Mount Burr brought Clark back into the game in the final quarter as the hosts gave it their all to try and pull of an unlikely but not impossible comeback.

However, the Mozzies’ defence was under pressure from the outset with the Murphies mid-court feeding the ball effectively to Paproth.

Despite the hosts’ best efforts, Glencoe won the last quarter by six goals as it continued its impressive season.

Payne and Wheeler were the best players for Mount Burr, while Paproth and Chloe Pfitzner were the best for Glencoe.
