Good results in annual challenge

Perfect autumn weather greeted the SE Veteran golfers went to Harrow for the annual challenge against the Wimmera and Glenelg groups.

The SE side was victorious, with their average score 25.8, Wimmera’s 25.4 and Glenelg’s 24.1.

President Glen Tilley was handed the Handbury Cup from host, Harrow’s Allan Grant.

The field of 79 travelled long distances to participate, ranging from Kingston to Ararat and Portland to Jeparit.

All enjoy competing at the unique scrape course, its layout set amongst the towering gums common to the area.

The SE group also claimed Division 1 with Wally Altschwager 34 and Division 2 with Arthur Niejalke 33.

Lyndsay Copeman was runner-up and also won the nearest to pin.

Next Monday the Glenelg group takes on the SE group at Millicent for another challenge, this time a shield.
