Williams wins on count-back

Millicent A Grade Pennant winners Mary Winser, Helen Chilton, Sue Agnew, Alex Lambert and Kirsty Bailey.

In wet and extremely windy conditions, there were 18 women who played a stroke round for the monthly medal at the Millicent Golf Club last week.

Val Williams claimed the victory in A Grade on a count-back after she finished with a score of 75.

Bronwyn Clarke was the unfortunate player to miss out on victory as she also scored 75 and had to settle for runner-up.

In B Grade, Karen Altschwager claimed the win with a very impressive score of 73.

Annie Maclennan was runner-up on a count-back with a score of 76.

Bec Shanks, Sue Ireland and Mary Winser all scored 76 and were ball winners, while Shanks claimed the win in the nine-hole competition for her front nine of 35.5.

Altschwager’s nett score of 73 was enough for her to take home the monthly medal.

Clarke was the nearest to the pin for the third hole and the second shot on the 12th hole.

Debbie Tincknell was the closest on the second shot on the 17th hole, while Heid Muhovics was the winner for the second shot on the fifth hole.

The long drive winners were Kirsty Bailey, Tincknell and Muhovics.

Clarke won the putting award in A Grade with 27 putts for the day, while Sharne Peacock and Maclennan tied for first in B Grade with 34 putts.

There were also two teams from the Millicent Golf Club in the Pennants finals and the A Grade team took home the 2023 SE Women’s District Pennant after it defeated Lucindale.

However, the Division 1 team suffered defeat to Kingston.
