The Bordertown Gun Club held a shoot last month, with near-perfect conditions for the two events on offer for the day.

The first was a 50-target double barrel championship, which had Gavin Height take the overall honours with a 50/50 – the only possible shot for the event.

There were a total of six 49/50’s shot, with Darren Blok, Steve Chambers, Don Pratt, Daniel Robinson, plus Ash and John Hawker all close to a perfect score.

After a shootout Pratt settled into the runner-up position for overall and AA Grade with a 56/57, while Chambers (69/70) secured A Grade from Blok (68/70).

B Grade was won by Robinson with his 49/50 enough to account for Tim Downing on 44/50.

Branden Love won C Grade with 43/50, while Malcolm McGrice finished a close second with 42/50.

The second event for the day as a 50-target pointscore.

The top grade was won by Ash Hawker with 147/150, from John Hawker on 146.

Chambers backed himself to win A Grade again with a 148/150, followed by Blok’s 139/150.

Robinson shot 140/150 to go two-from-two in B Grade, with Peter Winser second on 128/150, while Love also topped C Grade with 129/150 from McGrice on 126/150.

At the end of the day Chambers was awarded the high gun with the highest aggregate score, finishing the event with an impressive total of 197/200.

The club’s next shoot will be held on May 28 with a 50-target doubles barrel championships and 25-pair double rise.

Practice from 10.15am with competition to start at 11am.
