THERE were several new personal-bests set as well as another new name on the scoring list for the Blue Lake Archers last week.

On Friday night, there was the standard twin Australian 18-metre rounds and a new archer made his debut for the club.

Alex McDonnell has now joined the club, choosing the compound bow as his equipment division, he competed in both rounds to put him well on the road to gaining his handicap rating.

The initial round was a Delaney family blitz, as the family swept the to three.

In the mid-pack a tie-break with both archers on 292 points found Paul Freeman taking the higher finishing position from Jeffrey Puckridge.

At the pointy end of the group, Blade Delaney had taken the win after improving his personal-best to lead home younger brother, Seth, and dad Matt.

In Round 2, Jeff Puckridge improved his off the bow score and had an all gold range but was unable to overcome the handicap adjustments system that continues to lag the steadily increasing accuracy of Seth Delaney.

McDonnell gained more points in his second indoor round to post a personal-best.

Puckridge completed the round as the runner up to Seth Delaney who carded a new personal-best on his way to the win.

The mix and match set of rounds for Sunday afternoon’s outdoor event had two single distance rounds and one triple distance round selected by the archers.

McDonnell continued his foray into the sport and fronted his first scored outdoor round while Blade Delaney took to the outdoor field holding a compound bow instead of his customary bare bow recurve kit.

Fiona Allison tested out the Newcastle round while coaching Abbey Jones, it paid dividends for both with a new PB for Jones and Allison elevated to the runner up position overall.

Interestingly the first three places came from three different rounds.

In third place was Freeman who was in the WA 60/900, second was Allison in the Newcastle and the winner for the day was Seth Delaney competing in the Geelong round.
