LAST time Nangwarry and Tantanoola met the former broke an eight-year winning drought.

On Saturday another drought was broken – albeit of a lesser magnitude – with the Tigers reaping revenge to shake a 13-game losing streak.

Played on its home surface, Tantanoola did not take any chances when opening the match with a 27-0 effort.

To the Saints’ credit they narrowed the gap in the second with four goals to one, but remained 12 points down at half time.

The Tigers, determined to prevent history repeating itself, put in an 11-goal second half to finish up 67-point victors.

There was no passenger on the day and a wide-spread contribution saw nobody score more than two goals for the hosts.

With a total of 16 majors for the day it comes as an impressive feat, with six players scoring two each.

Liam English, Jordan and Troy Hatt, Darcy Hogan, Cam Saint and Matthew Sorella all had a taste of the action with multiples, while Hayden Brown, Jack Dawe, Cade Kelly and Alec Roberts also found the middle of the big sticks.

However, it was the efforts of Ellis Cushion which were judged as best on the day.

He took home the best-on-ground honours, ahead of Kelly, Jordan Hatt and Braydn Reilly.

Troy Hatt and Saint were also solid, in a game which produced plenty of positives for the Tigers.

At the other end of things Nangwarry relied heavily on Andrew Hyland up forward and the Saints’ captain slotted four goals for the match.

Adam Todd put in a best-on-ground performance, while Jack Pudney, Dylan Podobnik and Joshua Smith were also among the best.

The Tigers will enjoy the bye this round, while Nangwarry faces the daunting prospect of welcoming reigning premier Kalangadoo to its home deck.
