HATHERLEIGH bounced back from its shock Round 2 loss in style with an emphatic win over Kongorong on Saturday.

The Eagles stamped their authority from the opening bounce and kicked five goals in the first quarter to take a 23-point lead at the break.

The Hawks reduced the deficit in the second stanza as they held the hosts to just one goal while adding two of their own to head into the main break with the score 44-26.

However, Hatherleigh stepped up another gear in the third quarter and took control of the contest.

The Eagles spread their wings as they kicked eight goals to head into three-quarter-time with a 48-point lead.

The hosts then cruised to victory as they added another four majors in the last quarter to claim a 59-point win.

Jed Telfer and Patrick Chay were the two standout performers for Hatherleigh and were named as the two best for their side, while Gerard McGrath and Sam Telfer dominated in the forward line.

McGrath kicked six goals and Telfer bagged five of his own in a dominant display.

For the Hawks, Jarrod Ryan put up a solid fight as he kicked five goals, while Matthew Roberts led the way and was best on ground for the visitors.
