THE Mount Gambier Baseball Masters returns to the Blue Lake city this weekend with the 16th annual event.
The tournament is a popular event on the baseball calendar and is fully sanctioned by the Australian Baseball Federation.
Only eight teams will compete this time after the late withdrawal of a couple of sides, with those teams split into two divisions.
Adelaide Aces, Northern Aces Blue and Grey, plus Playford will travel from Adelaide, while Diamond Dogs represent Melbourne.
Local team Centrals will return while the Legends will field two teams due to an influx of players.
There will be two games played on Friday night under lights at Blue Lake Sports Park with Legends A matching up against Playford at 6.15pm, while Legends B are drawn against last year’s gold medallists Northern Aces Blue.
The Mount Gambier Softball Association has generously offered Diamond 2 for use over the weekend, which will bring all games within closer proximity.
After Friday night’s spectacle games will commence at 9am on Saturday, leading into two finals at 6pm and 7.45pm.
Finals continue on Sunday starting at 8.30am before the gold medal games, with Division 2 at 12 noon and Division 1 at 2pm.
Full catering and bar facilities are available at the baseball clubrooms all weekend.
