THE Mid South East netball match of the round lived up to hype, as Robe defeated Tantanoola by just six goals.

Robe scored the first two goals of the game through strong positioning between Demi Carter and Tori Gluyas.

Tantanoola was unsettled with their feeding to goalies Keryl Ousey and Emma Gould, who used their height to advantage and snapped up any missed shots.

Both sides took time to settle with tweaks to their line ups from 2022 and it was Robe with a one-goal lead at the first break.

Tantanoola made numerous changes at the break, with Gould moving to goal defence, Jami Walker to goal attack, Casey Walker to wing attack and Kate Bromley to wing defence.

Robe continued to play controlled netball and scored the first two goals of the second quarter to extend the lead to three.

Tantanoola worked hard in its attacking end, settling and scoring the next two goals through Ousey.

The Robe goalies struggled to adjust to the height of Gould and Tayla Rowe.

Emily Hunter worked hard in centre for Robe, giving her side drive through the mid-court.

Robe’s defensive end of Annie Regnier, Emma Grant and Georgia Perkins lifted, but Tantanoola played a solid quarter to keep within in one goal.

Robe replaced Lucy Perkins in the wing attack position with Halle Carter, while Tantanoola swapped Ousey and Jamie Walker.

Once again Robe shot the first two goals of the quarter, despite great defensive pressure from Gould.

Robe’s defensive pressure through the mid-court made it tough for Tantanoola, as the Roosters pushed out to five-goal lead on numerous occasions, only for the Tigers to peg it back.

However, Robe ultimately won the battle with Demi Carter and Gluyas missing only one shot for the quarter, finishing with a four-goal lead at three-quarter time.

Tantanoola swapped Bromley and Rowe at the start of the last quarter, but an injury to Gould mid-way through the quarter saw them make numerous changes.

Despite Jamie Walker shooting at a 100 per cent, Robe was too strong across the court and ran away with a six-goal victory.

Best players for the victors were Gluyas and Georgia Perkins, with Gould and Casey Walker best for Tantanoola.
