KYBYBOLITE took out the Group B women’s football grand final on Sunday with a strong 33-point win over Kongorong.

The Tigers put their foot on the gas early and took a 14-0 lead at the first break of the Limestone Coast women’s football consolation match.

They then battled the wind in the second quarter but restricted Kongorong to just four minor scores and kicked two goals themselves to take a 22-point lead at half time.

The Hawks went into the premiership quarter still with a slim chance of claiming victory but their hopes were soon dashed as the Tigers kicked three goals to extend the lead to 43 with one quarter to play.

However, Kongorong refused to be pushed over and put up a solid fight in the final term as it dictated the contest.

Taylor Cozzi and Sheba Miller gave the Hawks their first two goals of the game as they won the final quarter and reduced the deficit to 33 points.

Genevieve Blake was in inspired form in the Tigers’ forward line as she took contested marks and kicked four majors.

She was supported by Ella Boston, Amelia Frick, Ella Green and Taylor Ryan who all scored one goal.

Frick was named the best player for Kybybolite, while Kongorong’s Evie Sealey put in a strong performance in he midfield and was named best on ground for the match.

This was the second straight year the Tigers have taken home silverware after they won the Group A grand final in 2022.
