THE Borderline Speedway will round out its 2022-23 season on Saturday night with leg two of the time-honoured Easter Trail event.

The Sprintcar meeting runs over three days, beginning at Avalon speedway tonight, the Borderline Speedway Saturday night, then culminating at Warrnambool on Sunday night.

Drivers can claim a bonus cash prize if they can win all three nights of racing.

However, that is a tough call, despite the last two Easter Trails going to Jamie Veal.

Veal is not nominated for this year’s event, which leaves the door open for a new name to be etched into the history books.

To win all three nights drivers and crews must be perfect in their preparation and execution on each night.

One small slip can be the difference between glory and just another meeting.

Borderline Speedway president Cary Jennings said the meeting was shaping up to provide plenty of entertainment, with 40 drivers nominated for the three events.

Mount Gambier will see 35 of those drivers in action, with no shortage of talent.

Daniel Pestka will drive the Starks car and would love to claim the home-track victory for the Port MacDonnell team.

He will have a huge task though, with other locals such as Glen Sutherland and Scott Enderl in the mix.

Australia number one Jock Goodyer will be tough to beat, while Cameron Waters is one to watch, with the Supercar driver always fast on the clay.

Warrnambool Classic winner Brock Hallett, Grant Anderson, Luke Dillon and Marcus Dumesny will all b on the pace, while Jordan Charge and Tasmanian Tate Frost are young chargers keen for a win.

To support the Sprintcars is a 19-strong field of Super Rods, along with around 11 Late Models, which are sure to provide plenty of action between the Sprintcar heats.

To finish the night in style the customary fireworks will start at 9.45pm if all goes to plan and last around 10 minutes.

Gates will open at 4pm, with action to kick off at 5pm.
