ST Martins Lutheran College recently held its annual middle/senior school athletics carnival.

The carnival was contested over two days with students competing across a range of track, field and novelty events in less-than-ideal weather conditions.

At the end of the two days of competition, Livingston took out the house shield to break a 15-year-old drought.

The 2023 event once again had a high level of student participation, while college staff also had a chance to test their skills against students in a tug-of-war battle and a running relay.

At the conclusion of day two, champions were named in all age groups for the athletes who received the most points across all events.

The Under 20 female champion was Lily Clifford-Finch, while Harry Gibbs was the Under 20 male winner.

In the Under 16 age group, Jena Jagger and Charlie Jenkin received the female and male awards, respectively.

Brodie Versteegh and Elmer Buckland shared the Under 15 boys title level on points, while Elise Benny was the best performing female for the age group.

The Under 14s’ top athletes were Issy Green and Les Jagger, while Winnie Zadow and Eli de Breuk claimed the Under 13 female and male awards.

Students and staff were commended for their efforts over the two days, with a special mention to college parents, friends and ground staff for their involvement.
